And I fell sick yesterday

WED, 15 NOV 2006

After months of relentless work, finally my body rebelled and said, “Give me a break”. And it succumbed itself to the attack of mild flu and fever. I fell sick yesterday.

Last nite, after popping a pil, I tugged in to bed early. And it was one of the rare good-and-peaceful sleep that I opportuned to have; thanks to my wife who massaged my head while I was on bed. This morning I woke up feeling better, and… well, work must go on again. There is a dateline to catch.

Whhat a coincidence, I too fell ill recently with a bad bad case of diarrhoea and fever.

One of the things that I miss from working for someone else is the ability to get an MC, make a medical claim and just rest at home without any guilt. Don’t know about you, but everytime I fall ill now, I feel guilty for not working. And because the medical bill comes out from my own pockets now instead of just “the company”, it stings even more.

Get well soon Herry!

Oh ya…what a coincidence. :)

The lousy part also is it’s really hard to force yourself to work when you are not feeling well. You too, take a good care of yourself. Let’s get well soon.

Actually, i’m not really for the idea of forcing myself to work when i’m feeling really sick. Bad quality code comes out of me when i’m feeling sick/tired/sleepy.

In my previous job, I once fell ill for 5 days straight with a really bad flu and the project deadline was really close. I continued staying in the office trying to force myself to work, but at the end of the week I realised that my productivity has been so low, I might have done that whole week’s work in 1-2 days when i’m healthy. I think alot of it is caused by fixing the buggy code that was produced earlier in the week, hahaha.

So I learned my lesson to not force myself to work when i’m too sick. Just take a rest for a day or two, then charge ahead again.

Heya Herry,

Hope your project is going great - and hope you’re feeling better.

Yeah I do agree Joe, has been slowing down these couple of days. :)

Daniel, yeah I’m back to my normal state. Thanks!
